About the event
Experience a night of passion, rhythm, and virtuosity as Eastern Strings Tango Quartet bring their spellbinding sound to the Blakehay on Friday 16th January 2026.
Led by acclaimed double bassist and composer Daphna Sadeh-Neu (Tzadik Records, commissions for orchestra and ensemble, international tours across Europe, Asia and the USA) and the brilliant Knud Stüwe on oud (fresh from a sold-out collaboration with the Ligeti Quartet at St George’s Bristol), Mirek Salmon - accordion & Bandoneon and Ricardo de Noronha - percussion, the quartet weaves together world music, jazz, Baroque, and the fiery intensity of tango.
With performances spanning festivals, cathedrals, and concert halls, from Bristol Beacon to Rich Mix London, Eastern Strings deliver a cross-cultural journey that is as moving as it is exhilarating. Expect intricate improvisation, driving rhythms, and soulful melodies that transcend borders and genres.
Join us for an unforgettable evening of music that blends East and West, ancient traditions and contemporary flair.
