MICHELLE TERRY

Michelle Terry Announced as Patron of The Blakehay

We’re thrilled to announce that Michelle Terry, actor, writer, and Artistic Director of Shakespeare’s Globe  has become the official patron of the Blakehay.

Born and raised in Weston-super-Mare, Michelle’s career has taken her from Wadham Street to world-renowned stages, but she’s never lost her love for her hometown or its creative potential. Her deep connection to Weston and her passion for making theatre open and accessible to all make her a perfect match for our mission.

Michelle said:
"The Blakehay has always had a special place in my heart. It was one of the first theatres I ever stepped into, and I’m so excited to support its next chapter. A thriving local theatre is about more than just shows, it’s about stories, belonging, joy, and the chance for everyone to be part of something bigger."

As a theatre that champions both homegrown talent and big ideas, we couldn’t ask for a more inspiring figure to walk beside us. Michelle’s support will help us shine a spotlight on Weston’s creativity, raise the profile of the theatre nationally, and open new doors for local artists, young people and audiences.

Whether you’ve never been to the theatre or you’re a seasoned regular, now is the time to get involved. With Michelle cheering us on, the future’s looking bold, brilliant, and proudly Weston.

RUPERT GRAVES

Rupert Graves Announced as Patron of The Blakehay

We’re delighted to welcome acclaimed actor Rupert Graves as a patron of the Blakehay.

Best known for his work on screen and stage, from Sherlock and The Forsyte Saga to V for Vendetta and A Room with a View, Rupert began his journey right here in Weston-super-Mare. Born and raised in the town, his creative spark was first lit on local stages like the Blakehay, and he remains a proud champion of Weston’s artistic potential.

Rupert said:
"It’s a real privilege to support the Blakehay as it begins this exciting new chapter. Weston gave me my first taste of performance and possibility, and I’m proud to stand behind a venue that’s working so hard to bring creativity, opportunity and brilliant nights out to the community."

Rupert’s support as patron helps us show what’s possible when local roots meet national talent. His involvement will help raise the profile of the theatre, inspire the next generation of performers, and remind us all that big things can grow from small beginnings.

We’re proud to have Rupert alongside us as we build something special in the heart of Weston , a theatre that reflects the town’s spirit, talent, and imagination.

GEORGE FERGUSON

George Ferguson Backs The Blakehay

We’re proud to have the support of George Ferguson CBE, architect, cultural champion, and former Mayor of Bristol, as we shape the next chapter of the Blakehay.

George is well known for his belief in the power of place, creativity and community. As the founder of the Tobacco Factory project in Bristol, he helped transform a disused building into a thriving cultural hub,  something that strongly echoes our vision for the Blakehay.

George said:
“The arts bring life to our towns and cities,  and I’m delighted to support the Blakehay in its mission to be a true civic space for Weston. With the right people, passion, and imagination, these places become so much more than buildings they become beating hearts of community and culture.”

His backing brings invaluable insight and encouragement as we create a theatre that’s rooted in Weston, bold in its ambition, and open to all.

We’re delighted to count world-class guitarist and singer Jamie Moses among our patrons. Born in Ipswich and raised across the United States and Japan, Jamie is a self-taught guitarist who’s been performing since the age of ten — and playing live on radio and TV since he was just thirteen.

Jamie’s career reads like a rock ‘n’ roll hall of fame. He’s toured the world as second guitarist with Brian May and Queen + Paul Rodgers, played with Mike & The Mechanics, and co-founded the Tex-Mex band Los Pacaminos with Paul Young. He’s also been a long-standing member of The SAS Band, performed with legends from Tom Jones to Eric Burdon, and appears on countless albums and live recordings.

As a patron, Jamie brings not just his musical pedigree, but his belief in the power of live performance to connect, inspire, and excite. His support helps us keep the Blakehay buzzing with unforgettable nights, from local talent to world-class acts.

JAMIE MOSES

MR MISTOFFELEES

We’re delighted (and slightly bewildered) to announce that our latest patron is none other than Mr. Mistoffelees – the original conjuring cat of stage and song.

Known for his impeccable timing, dazzling costumes, and the ability to appear in two places at once (which is really useful at fundraising dinners), Mr. Mistoffelees brings a certain magic to our theatre.

When he’s not busy pulling rabbits out of hats or causing entire lighting rigs to mysteriously reset themselves, he can be found backstage politely declining cat treats and insisting on only the finest sequined waistcoats.

His patronage guarantees that every performance will now include at least one inexplicable puff of smoke, a mysteriously missing prop, and an encore nobody rehearsed but somehow everyone knows.

Welcome, Mr. Mistoffelees—our most magical patron yet! 🐾🎩

Disclaimer: Sadly, Mr. Mistoffelees is a fictional cat from a musical. Any resemblance to actual patrons, living or magical, is purely coincidental (though we’re still hoping for sequins and smoke machines).
