WESTON'S
ART HOUSE
Schools at The Blakehay

Are you involved with a local school?
Bringing learning to life through creativity, culture, and connection.
We believe every young person deserves the chance to experience live performance, creative learning, and the magic of theatre.
The Blakehay is proud to work with primary, secondary, and SEND schools across Weston-super-Mare and North Somerset. Whether you’re planning an enrichment trip, looking for a workshop to support your curriculum, or want to inspire a new generation of performers, we’re here to help.
Accessible, Affordable, Inclusive
We are committed to making the Blakehay a space where all young people feel welcome — including those with SEND, EAL, or additional support needs. Our team will always work with you to adapt sessions to your group’s needs.
Discounted rates are available for school bookings. Some workshops are fully funded thanks to our community partners — get in touch to find out more.
How We Work With Schools
School Theatre Visits
Bring your class to a show — from family theatre and Shakespeare to live music and seasonal performances. Group booking discounts available, plus optional Q&As and post-show discussions.
Backstage Tours & Technical Workshops
Explore behind the scenes with a hands-on tour covering lighting, sound, set, costumes, and how a working theatre really runs.
Drama & Performance Workshops
Led by our in-house team or guest artists, our workshops build confidence, creativity, and teamwork — tailored to suit different key stages, abilities, and topics.
Weston Literary Festival
Each year, we host school-friendly events as part of Weston’s growing literary festival, including author talks, creative writing sessions, and storytelling performances.
Shakespeare for Schools Week
Our annual celebration of Shakespeare includes performances, workshops, and creative sessions designed especially for KS2–KS4 — making classic texts fun, accessible, and unforgettable.
Carnival Week & Creative Projects
Join us for vibrant arts-based sessions linked to Weston Carnival and other local celebrations. Expect music, movement, costume-making and more.
Christmas at the Blakehay
Bring the magic of the season alive with a festive theatre trip, immersive storytelling sessions or a creative classroom workshop. Special December programming available for school groups.
Enrichment & Employability Sessions
We support career-focused learning with creative industry insights, work experience placements, and confidence-building workshops for KS4 and KS5 students.
